I've ripped this off a fellow Partner's blog....
This is the church that I’ve been attending on Sunday afternoons. It was started by a missionary from the Southern Baptist Convention (about 9 months ago). He’s currently back in the States temporary and will come back in January. Right now, we have an interim pastor and his wife, Ken and Pat Varner. They are an elderly couple who spent most of their lives here in Kaohsiung/Taiwan. They are retired missionaries but God has other plans for them when they came back here to serve this church until the founding Pastor came back.
To make things short, Ken and Pat will be leaving soon and he really wants the members of the church to form a leadership to spearhead things (even if we don’t have a pastor). There will be a short time where we will not even have a pastor while Ken is gone.
Right now we have a team of eleven people who have showed interest in becoming a "core group" of the church to get stuff rolling. We'll be having our first meeting this coming Sunday.... do pray for the church, and for the people who are stepping up to be leaders of the church. New Life is such a baby church and we need a lot of wisdom, especially during the two months when we'll be without a pastor.
This is the vision established in February for the New Life Bilingual Church:
A Biblically-based church in Kaohsiung trusting God to save the lost, restore the un-churched, and transform us into a healthy, growing family of believers that impacts Taiwan and the world.
