Breaking Down The Walls

Hi all!

My boyfriend, Alan has arrived safe and sound two nights ago!
Chinese New Year is just around the corner, which means that our short-term missions trip around Taiwan is coming up as well! There will be 12 brothers and sisters, 2 vans, and 9 days for us to play with. So far, we've prepared a bunch of songs, skits/drime, testimonies, and goodie-bags for kids. During the first part of the week it will mostly be "vacation-time" for us, since most of the Taiwanese will be with their families for the start of Chinese New Year. But wherever we are, we're ready to set up the sound equipments and do some of the skits when we see an opportunity to do so, and to share the gospel message as well.
For the second part of the trip, we'll be partnering up with some of the missionaries in some of the cities that we'll be visiting. There will be more "formal" out-reach nights in the west-coast cities.

Around the Walls of Jericho (Joshua 6)
Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in." (Joshua 6:2-5)
As the Lord had promised Joshua that Jericho will be given into the Israelites' hands, God has promised that "Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear." (Isaiah 45:23b).
We have the hope of glory that all nations will confess that Jesus is Lord! Although we are not the first or the last group to go around Taiwan sharing the Good News, our "march" around the island is significant as well. It will be done with obedience, faith, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the people had marched around them for seven days. (Hebrews 11:30)
As the wall of Jericho came crumbling down at the last march, we have faith that every idol in Taiwan will crumble and bow down at Jesus' feet. In Joshua 12, it lists the kings and kingdoms that were conquered by the Israelites and we see these as a picture of the numerous idols that God will destroy in Taiwan.
"Therefore I want you to know that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!" (Acts 28:28)

So let us be strong and courageous, as Paul had been in Acts - "For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ." (Acts 28:30-31).
