Half-way Mark!

Hi all,

It's really amazing how I've hit the half-way mark already! Since last week, I've been in Kaohsiung for half a year, isn't that crazy? Thank you for your continuous prayer, support, and encouraging words to me. God has been blessing and teaching me a lot.

Here's a quickie update on what's going on in KHH.....

Alpha Course
The Alpha course has slowed down to a stop now, after the leaders realize that it's way to much on their plates (myself included XD), and the numbers of attendees have been fairly low. Instead, we're looking at sending people to another church where they've started the course as well. This has been a relief to some of us, and certainly an answered prayer!

New Life Church
After Pastor Ken and his wife, Pat, left in early November, we had a new couple who came to help us. This couple had worked in China for the last ten years, and due to visa issues, they were suddenly not allowed back into the country after their vacation! However, they still had the heart to serve the Chinese people, so they came to Taiwan instead. They left virtually everything in China, yet have peace that Taiwan is where God has called them to be. Please pray for this couple, Susan and Peter, as they settle in Kaohsiung.

Please continue to pray for our church, we are constantly under attack, which is encouraging because it also shows that we are doing something that threatens satan. Our worship on Sundays are always a little crazy.... one time, the worship leader came down with a stomach virus and the sister that was supposed to be singing with him suddenly fainted from low blood sugar during our prayer meeting before the worship. Last Sunday, another singer came down with a stomachache and I came down with a random fever, although I still played piano for praise. And yesterday, through a series of unexpected events, we were left with almost no musicians! But through God's grace and mercy, our guitarist walked in through the door five minutes before the worship began. And this all happened in three of the five Sundays in November!! It's really amazing how God has been sustaining us!

Christmas is coming and we're all busy preparing outreach events! In Taiwan, Christmas is not really celebrated, and not many people know the meaning behind Christmas. So this is the perfect opportunity to reach out to the locals!

Kaoyuan University
This month I had the chance to host an English Learning Camp for two days up at the Kaoyuan University near Tainan. Rachel (a fellow OMF Partner) and I taught a class of forty senior Business-major students. I was given this opportunity through a Christian university instructor, Mei, who's working hard to bring Christians in to her university. We taught the students some basic conversational English and had them prepare a presentation for the following week. For the students it was already nerve-wrecking to be presenting in front of the class. So for them to do this in English was a difficult challenge! We had a good time of bonding with the students, and Mei is working on organizing an English winter camp where the students and some of the OMF Partners can go away for the weekend. It's exciting to be involved in the university, so please pray for more opportunities in the future!
